I came to Cambridge in 1989 to study for a BA (Hons) degree in music at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. I specialised in piano performance and accompanying and graduated in 1992. During my degree, I developed a love of accompanying and accompanied many of my fellow students for competitions, auditions and performance diploma examinations. I was also an active chamber musician and acted as repetiteur for 3 years for the university choir.
Following graduation, I taught the piano in a number of schools and also began my own private teaching practice. I continue to accompany instrumentalists and singers alongside my teaching work.
I have continued my own piano studies and have gained Distinctions in both my ATCL and LTCL Performance Diplomas.
I have attended a number of summer schools, most notably Dartington and Chethams International Piano Summer School where I have undertaken lessons and masterclasses with, among others Stephen Kovacevich, Carlo Grante and Helen Krizos.
As a pianist I play regularly in a piano duo with my husband and we give performances in the Cambridge area. Recent engagements have included accompanying a local chamber choir in a performance of Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem (arranged for piano duet) and performing the piano duet part of Saint Saens: Organ Symphony with a local orchestra. We have also collaborated with The Fairhaven Singers, performing works by Brahms, Delius, Holst and Schubert especially arranged for piano duet by the choir director.
I continue my professional development through membership of EPTA, the ISM and The Curious Piano Teachers network and have recently graduated from The Piano Teachers’ Course UK with Distinction.
